The beautiful Karissa. 1 year ago I shot her dreamy wedding in Vermillion. Since then I have followed her closely on instagram and have loved seeing her boss babe self do the most amazing things with her businesses.
I was so ecstatic when I saw that she was pregnant because I knew that she had been dealing with some infertility after one of her vulnerable posts on the subject. Not only was she pregnant but she was pregnant with TWINS! We were both pregnant + I was so happy for her.
When Owen decided to come extremely early, she followed along with our pre-term story closely & when she was also admitted to the royal Alex at 26 weeks gestation (in the same room that I was in), she quickly reached out. I felt all the emotions and texted her every thing that I could to make her feel at ease about the situation she was being thrown into + wow am I am so grateful that I did.
When Karissa hit 29 weeks I was OVERJOYED to see that her babies were still cooking. Because I had Owen at 24 weeks, I was not able to have a maternity session – which if you know me – that really upset me. So I just knew that I needed to give Karissa what I wished I could have had in her situation.
She asked the nurses for special permission + luckily we were granted permission to sneak some photos on the royal Alexandra hospital property grounds, with a 30 minute time limit. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a special moment for Karissa. She looked absolutely stunning + I am so ecstatic to say that her sweet babies are STILL cooking. Go babes go!
There is nothing better than an unconventional session + this one was that in every single way. But yet, it was so completely beautiful + a huge part to her story.
